Abstract
Most of the Brazilian pre-salt oil reserves are in located in stratified carbonate reservoirs with layers with different petrophysical properties. The optimization of the production strategies relies on accurate characterization of the different layers by well tests. The estimation of reservoir parameters is usually made through the solution of an inverse problem using measurements of transient pressure and temperature data and accurate model to describe the coupled dynamics of the reservoir layers and well. This work presents a model to describe the flow and heat transfer in a stratified reservoir linked to a vertical wellbore. The results show how the pressure and temperature signatures measured in the well change with the reservoir condition far from the wellbore. Moreover, the signatures enable the identification of the characteristics of each individual layer.
