Abstract
Proper maintenance of air conditioning systems is essential to ensure thermal comfort in a variety of environments, including homes, businesses, and schools. The lack of proper maintenance can trigger negative consequences for the user's health, especially regarding respiratory function. It can also result in reduced performance and reliability of systems/equipment and high energy consumption. In this sense, this article aims to present a case study at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Bahia - Jequié Campus, in which the DMAIC methodology (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) will be applied to manage the maintenance of air conditioning systems and ensure a safe and healthy environment for users. To achieve this objective, the project establishes specific goals, such as developing a diagnosis of the management of air conditioning systems at IFBA - Jequié Campus and applying the DMAIC methodology for maintenance management. The methodological procedure consists of developing a checklist based on the technical parameters and criteria established by legislation regarding air conditioning system maintenance to identify non-conformities. This information will be used to identify the main problems in the maintenance sector through quality tools such as the "5W" technique (five whys) and the cause-and-effect matrix. Based on this data, a 5W2H action plan associated with the GUT prioritization matrix will be developed to describe the measures to resolve the most recurring inconsistencies in the sector. The proposed research not only offers a solution to the persistent problem of air conditioning equipment maintenance but also has socioeconomic and environmental relevance. The proposed plan aims to achieve maximization of energy efficiency and continuous improvement of maintenance processes at the Institute. It is expected that the proposal will support the protection of indoor air quality and the health of users of air-conditioned spaces at IFBA Jequié Campus, in addition to contributing to the dissemination of information on the importance of maintenance planning and improvement.
