Abstract
Nanofluids are colloidal suspensions of nanometric particles (less than 100 nm) dispersed in a base fluid, which have shown great potential for various engineering applications, improving the thermomechanical properties of the base fluid. Logically, these applications require a good knowledge of flow properties. Thus, the study of the rheological behavior of nanofluids allows the understanding of the fluidic structure and is of fundamental importance for engineering applications. Specifically, in this work an investigation was carried out on the influence of SiO2 nanoparticles, at different volumetric concentrations, in a fluid with a Newtonian base (mineral oil). The work evaluated the rheological properties of suspensions formed in three regions: liquid regime, solid regime and solid-liquid transition. Furthermore, the suspensions were subjected to sedimentation tests to assess their stability for 60 days.
