Abstract

In the development process of a hybrid renewable energy system (HRES), the net present value (NPC) is mainly established as a parameter for evaluating the economic viability of the project. However, since the use of HRES aims to reduce the environmental impact caused, mostly, by the burning of fossil fuels for energy generation, the importance of reducing the system's emissions is identified. In this way, the objective is to improve hybrid generation from renewable sources in an educational location in Brazil, maintaining the economy of the project, in addition, minimizing the amount of carbon fuel dispersed in the atmosphere. For this, an HRES is made up of photovoltaic panels, fuel cell, electrolyser, inverter, Li-ion batteries and backup generator, with LCOE (Levelized Cost Of Energy) equivalent to 0.18$. The system is thinking of meeting the demand of the communities that make up the Extractive Reserve (RESEX) Lago do Cuniã in the state of Roraima, in the north of the country, emitting approximately 10t/year of CO2. Then, using a double SPEA-2 algorithm, evaluating the set of equipment and the way of operation, the whole project is analyzed in a multiobjective way, implementing it through the iHOGA software, which uses the NASA platform information bank Power Data for the experience of climate parameters, allowing after processing the comparison of NPV and emission values before and after computational analysis. Thus, it is verifiable that from a possible reduction of around 40% of the net present value, it also reduced CO2 emissions by about 15%. On the other hand, in the context of system improvement, a projection of equipment costs is projected, mostly related to an expansion of energy storage resources, thus implying changes in the fuel cell, electrolyser and batteries. - if it is feasible to minimize system emissions by using the standard algorithm, preserving its economic attractiveness, that is, NPC with a positive value. In addition, it is possible to observe the impact of the parameters of interest on other characterization variables of the hybrid system used.
