Abstract
Due to the negative impacts that greenhouse gases (GHGs) cause to the environment and the population, global policies are needed to implement renewable energy sources that benefit the well-being of the population and the global economy. Lignocellulosic biomass is a promising renewable source of energy used in several countries, being a more sustainable source that contributes to the reduction of GHGs emissions in the environment. The work seeks to carry out the torrefaction of the lignocellulosic biomass of rice husks to analyze the influence of the pre-treatment in the sample, for this purpose the experimental design of Taguchi with orthogonal matrix L9 was proposed, using factors such as temperature, residence time, mass and granulometry in three different levels, high, medium and low. With the execution of the experiments, it was possible to identify the best fit condition for the response variables, percentage of moisture and volatiles released, fixed carbon and higher calorific value. By analyzing variance and performing the F test, it was determined which factor was most significant in the process on the effects of mean and signal noise.
