Abstract
The definition of objectivity plays an important role in the enunciation of the Invariance of Material Response (IMR) in the development of the Continuum Mechanics. Unfortunately, the most used framework to formulate IMR – based on monitoring of one motion by two observers – shows somewhat inconsistency with the objectivity definition. Besides, most works present the transformation laws of fields adopting a particular case without need, and this has caused misconception over decades. This article proposes a new approach that allows to formulate IMR in a coherent way with the definition of objectivity. In addition, the transformation laws of some fields are presented considering a more general case and the classification of a second order tensor regarding its objectivity is done taking into account its mapping type. Further, a straightforward review of objectivity is presented and some conceptual aspects are remarked.
