Abstract
With the generalization of the use of composite materials in aeronautical industry, including structural elements subject to impact loads, it becomes necessary to accurately predict the occurrence of impact damage, because of its effect not only on the energy absorption capability of the material, but also on its residual properties. This work, thus, proposes a damage model for composite materials, considering also viscoelastic behavior, a characteristic present in many of the polymers commonly used as matrices for this type of material.
