Abstract
The temperature variation on the materials causes variations in its dimensions (displacements) causing additional stress in the structure. In some cases, these stresses can be significantly high and can cause several damages or even rupture in the structure. Metallic materials are relatively more susceptible to thermal expansion when compared to concrete and this work intends to evaluate the influence of heat transfer due to convection and radiation a metallic bridge by analytical models. Results showed that radiation had significantly more influence than convection in the variation of temperature and the model presented and error around 0.3% when compared to the experimental measurements. The variation in the forces were significantly high.
