A Numerical Simulation with OpenFOAM of a NACA0012 at High Reynolds number and critical angle of attack

Abstract
This study presents a numerical simulation of the flow around a NACA0012 airfoil with a high Reynolds number of 10^6 and a critical angle of attack of 18º using OpenFOAM. The hybrid turbulence model KW SST DDES is used to capture complex turbulent phenomena in the wake, produced by the detachment at the leading edge and reinsertion of the boundary layer on the airfoil and the detachment of the flow in the trailing edge. The simulations aim to improve the understanding of turbulent flow under stall conditions. The results are compared with reference literature.
