Abstract
Thermosiphons, also known as natural circulation loops, are heat transfer devices in which the fluid flows due to temperature gradient, generating single-phase and multiphase flow. In this study, a simplification of a pilot-scale thermosiphon was numerically evaluated. Volume of Fluid (VOF) with Lee model for mass transfer and Euler-Euler with RPI model simulations were conducted. The results were compared with an experimental database obtained by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements. The results showed a qualitative agreement with the use of RPI model. However, further research is still needed to obtain a quantitative validation.
