Abstract
This work aimed to investigate the number of patents related to the biomechanical modeling area deposited in the patent database of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The methodology used in this work counted on the accomplishment of searches carried out in said database, through the use of keywords involving the topic biomechanical modeling. The results of the searches were analyzed, interpreted and compared, generating statistical graphs showing the technological innovation process related to the biomechanical modeling area, the annual evolution of this technology, the countries that invest most in the intellectual protection of the same, the main inventors, among others. Based on the analysis of the results, it is noticed that Brazil has a low number of patents in this area, only 38, behind countries with a GDP lower than its own.
