Multi-element Polynomial Chaos in linear structures with nonlinear energy sink and uncertain parameters

Abstract
Coupling small nonlinear devices to principal mechanical system may allow to reduce vibrations of them by passive energy pumping phenomenon. The performance of the system is interesting considering the uncertainties, as a physical parameter of the system, in this case, the stiffness that makes the coupling between the systems. The objective of this paper is to give illustrative results and a discussion on the different numerical strategies when coupled non-linear dynamical systems with uncertain parameters are of interest, considering the Multi-element Polynomial Chaos Expansion strategy for their probabilistic model.
