Abstract
The model presented has the objective of studying the behavior of a 3-axle vehicle in steady state cornering, according to Newton-Euler rigid vehicle equations, comparing the 6x4 and 6x6 configurations. To compare both models, it was considered that the torque provided by the engine is equally distributed to the traction axles, and that the vehicle weight is equally distributed to each tire. The vehicle is an extended rigid body with 3 degrees of freedom: x and y position and z rotation. The vehicle develops a steady state cornering, that is, the vehicle is in constant velocity, the steering direction is constant and the force provided to the tires is constant. It was discarded slip between the tires and the road and no tires rotational inertia. The model works in SIMULINK/MATLAB platform. As a partial conclusion in this extended abstract, it can be seen that the 6x6 configuration has a lower radius of turn than the 6x4 configuration.
