Abstract
Nowadays the impact of the consumption of nonrenewable fuel sources is a huge concern due the pollution of the atmosphere and the increased of the planet temperature. One of the biggest contributors for the carbon dioxide launching in the atmosphere is the aeronautic sector, due mainly the propulsion systems, being based exclusively in fossil fuel sources. For this reason, each kilogram of a no burned fuel can save a considerable amount carbon dioxide launched in the atmosphere. For the point of view of the aircraft hydraulic system, normally the solutions use proportional or servo valves and variable displacement pumps, that in some operation conditions, work in a low efficiency range, becoming these systems inefficient, contributing for the fuel consumption. In this paper, in order to reduce the energy consumption of the aircraft hydraulic system, a solution using fixed displacement pumps in a digital arrangement will be present. The solution consists in the use of three fixed displacement pumps with different displacements and a linear actuator with four chambers. These pumps can operate in a high range of efficiency only suppling fluid to the actuator when it is necessary, where the system can require less energy. The preliminary results seems to be promising, where 80% of energy can be save when compere to the conventional solution.
