Abstract
The stochastic response of a guyed transmission line under wind load is evaluated in the current work. For this purpose, a nonlinear mathematical model of the structure and its Finite Element discretization is stated. The construction of the stochastic wind load field begins by the simulation of the random component of the wind speed, for which the Spectral Representation Method is applied. In order to consider a realistic situation, the pretension of the guy cables are assumed as independent and identically distributed random variables. The structural response is simulated using a series of independent samples of the stochastic objects generated through the Monte Carlo method. The statistical properties of three stochastic processes are evaluated: the dynamic tension in both windward guy cables and the along-wind displacements at the top of the tower. Finally, the extrema of these processes is compared to the static response of the structure subjected to the IEC wind load.
