Calcium Looping is one of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies with the purpose to control greenhouse gas emissions. In the application of fluidized beds, the diameter of the particles is fundamental for the control and prediction of the processes, being necessary due diligence in the preparation of the samples. However, the sieving technique is known for the difficulty of test repeatability due to the judicious need in sample preparation and test execution. The dolomitic limestone samples were quartered into 50 g portions, from which the effects of drying time, sieving frequency, and sieving time on the overall efficiency of the process were investigated. In addition, the impact of longer sieving times on five particle diameters was investigated. Results indicate process frequency as a significant factor, with higher frequencies related to better sieving.
