Abstract
This work presents an experimental analysis of porous ice formation in flat copper plates with sintered coating. The phenomenon under study occurs through resublimation, from the contact between a mixture of air and water in flow with a surface temperature below 0°C, present in several commercial applications, where the accumulation of frost results in decreased performance and efficiency of equipment, generating unnecessary expenses. The environmental conditions evaluated are plate surface temperature, ambient temperature, humidity, and air velocity. The results demonstrate experimental measurements of the frost thickness and deposition speed as a function of time, on flat surfaces, made of copper, with different surface finishes, noting that, among the samples tested, the so-called “sintered”, presents greater difficulty in providing the phenomenon.
