Abstract
The aim of the present work was to carry out fatigue simulations by the finite element method using static data from tensile tests for steel ABNT 1045 and ABNT 4140 and to compare the results obtained with other literature in the area. The methodology used for the simulation was based on pre-processing, solution and post-processing. In pre-processing, CAD geometry (computer-aided design) was designed, material properties were defined, mesh was generated and boundary conditions were applied. The solution was processed by the ANSYS® software and the post-processing was based on the evaluation of the simulation results. The analyzes were found to be close to those found in the literature when data on the properties of the study material under analysis were used, although the simulations did not consider residual stresses, roughness or even possible defects in the part. Thus, the finite element method proved to be a valuable tool in fatigue analysis, and if combined with experimental tests it can be of great help in the development of projects.
