Abstract
The reliability and availability of assets play a fundamental role in the performance and operation of port operations. The objective of this work was to implement the failure mode and its effects analysis tool (FMEA), in ReachStacker, a large equipment of a company in the port segment of the state of Pernambuco. The study started with a technical search of the asset, discovering which were the main systems of the machine in order to define the criticality to their process. Soon after the implementation of the FMEA tool was carried out, through the collection of data facilitated by auxiliary tools and quality techniques such as ENGEMAN and Brainstorming. It was seen in practice that the application of the tool directly influenced the improvement of ReachStacker's operation, due to the greater knowledge acquired of potential failure modes and definition of actions to reduce or eliminate risks, increasing the reliability and availability of the equipment and contributing enormously to the container handling process, finally proving that this methodology is extended to the other assets of the corporation.
