Abstract
Two-phase flows have wide application on industry, present in processes such as power transformation, condensation, evaporation, extraction and oil production, among others. They are characterized by the flow, inside a tube, with two immiscible substances and different phases. An important parameter used to understand flow patterns is the void fraction, which consists of determining the proportion of the gas-liquid mixture. This work aims to develop a capacitive sensor capable of detecting a proportion of void fraction presented in water/air two-phase flows inside a tube with an internal diameter of 3.0 mm. A mechanical support structure for the copper electrodes was developed, as well as the electronic circuit hardware, which includes the amplification, filter and sensor information signal processing circuits. The results show that the capacitive sensor is efficient for the detection and measurement of the void fraction in two-phase water-air flow.
