Abstract
The computational simulation it has become a very important tool in component design. This tool makes use of physical and mathematical models, which allow the designer to scale the component to meet his design requirements. However, the models involved in the simulation are only approximations of reality, and it is increasingly necessary that such models incorporate the real working characteristics of the component, in order to obtain reliable results and consistent with the reality of its operation. Therefore, it becomes necessary to identify, quantify and propagate the uncertainties of the input parameters through the computer simulation models. One of the main tools for modeling structural problems is the finite element method. The use of this method associated with the Monte Carlo simulation method allows the propagation of the uncertainties of the input parameters through the structural simulation model, providing the uncertainty of the model’s response variables.
