Abstract
The last two decades have been marked by a growing emphasis on adhering to quality programs based on the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma as a tool for improving business competitiveness. The objective of this work is to analyze the main aspects related to the unfolding in the organizational environment of a chemical industry in a period of seven years, 2010 and 2017 due to the implementation of the LSS methodology, evaluating the implications, difficulties, as well as the economic and operational gains from the implementation of the project. The methodology used in this work was the Case Study to better understand the phenomena associated with adherence to continuous improvement programs. For that, questionnaires containing 86 questions about ISO9001, TQM and Lean Six Sigma were applied, as well as interviews with some members of the organization of different hierarchical levels. For the data treatment, cluster analysis was used, emphasizing which factors are considered relevant to reach the improvement goals. The interviewees were certified Green Belts and Black Belts. Analysis of the results shows that it is possible to conclude that the company object of the case study, is currently adopting Lean Six Sigma SSL methodological principles informally. This behavior is a reflection of the insertion of the principles referring to the cited methodology to the organizational culture of the institution. Indicating a level of maturity achieved by the implemented program.
