Abstract
The constant searching for weight reductions in structures, automotive, agricultural and road implements has motivated manufacturers to develop ultra high strength steels that meet this growing demand. This article aims to conduct a comparative analysis on the mechanical behavior (hardness and tensile test) of welded joints of dual phase ultra high strength steel through GMAW - Gas Metal Arc Welding - using two different welding heat inputs. To ensure precision in the welding process, a robotic system was used. Tests were conducted to characterize the welded joints via optical microscopy, micro harness profile and tensile tests. Results showed that the setting of the welding parameters has a direct relationship on the mechanical strength of the welded joint.
