Abstract
With an evolution and technological innovation, materials engineering develops products, creating components with propitious characteristics and good quality to be employed in their proper areas of activity, with emphasis on industry, such as the generation of polymer composites. This work demonstrates the progress of the study on composite materials with isophthalic resin and cobalt accelerator curing agents and catalyst, with insertion of short bamboo fibers In natura in the lengths of 30 mm and with chemical treatment in 5% NaOH solution. For the study of mechanical behavior, tensile strength tests were performed according to ASTM D3039. A total of 10 (ten) specimens were produced for each fabricated series. The composites produced yielded a tensile strength limit of 19.58 MPa for the composites in 3% bamboo 30 mm in natura and 32.14 MPa with the incorporation of 3% of chemically treated fibers.
