Abstract
This paper presents a short review about the methods applied to simulate vertical axis wind turbine performance. Models based on blade element model like Single Streamtube Model, Multiple Streamtube Model and Double Multiple Streamtube Model are discussed. Equations using Double Multiple Streamtube Model are described to estimate the efficiency and power curve of 1.5 kW straight bladed vertical axis wind turbine. The obtained results will be compared with manufacturer data.
