Abstract
The distribution of residence time (RTD) is a technique applied to different types of reactors and it is possible to diagnose issues during the operation, this analysis become the process more efficient and predict the main output properties of the reactor current. Aiming at this, this study aims to evaluate the performance of five hydrodynamic models for determination of the RTD, those models contain parameters related to death volume and bypassing. The estimation of these parameters was performed using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo Technique (MCMC). The reactor used was the CSTR, the results obtained through the estimation of parameters indicate that the death volume phenomenon influences approximately 62% of the flow, while the bypassing has a practically null influence, this propriety become the uniparametric model of death volume as the most appropriate to describe the experimental data.
