Abstract
The Pumped Hydro Energy Storage (PHES) consists in a system where the water is taken from a low-level reservoir to another on higher level on periods of low demand (off-pick) and the inverse on periods of high demand (on-pick). The elevation of the water column is made by a pump-turbine connected with a source of energy. The benefits of the integration of this storage technology with energy production systems have already been seen in many countrys, but it didn’t prosper significant yet on Brazilian territory. The work aims the physical modeling of a PHES, on a reduced scale, fed by a source of voltage analogous to the average energy produced by a photovoltaic system in the region of Brasília. Water level sensors will be responsible for the pumping control and the water release in the reservoirs. A dimensional analysis will be made to determinate the similitude between the model and a real scale prototype, allowing the data transport of this project to future others and making it one more incentive for his national use.
