Abstract
This paper aims at presenting an application developed by an electronic circuit based on microcontroller and a circuit of Real Time Clock (RTC), in addition to other peripheral and power circuits. Its purpose is to position a photovoltaic solar module so that it is pointed to the position of the Sun even on overcast days. The system is based on the mathematical equations of Duffie J. and Beckman W., Solar Engineering of Thermal Processes, that defines the Solar Declination Angle and the Solar Time Angle. These equations have as independent variables: the number of the day of the year - NDA; The latitude of the solar panel installation site; and the date-time containing day, month, hour, and minute. The date-time is obtained by means of a RTC- type circuit that generates this information and is powered by a lithium battery with a minimum duration of ten years and can be easily replaced. The prototype is endowed with an interface that inserts the data, such as the date-time and latitude of the installation site of the module and an alphanumeric display to aid in the insertion of data and verification of the status of the system and its energy consumption is obtained directly from the solar module. The movement of the module, to obtain the correct orientation of the module, is obtained from a mechanical assembly with two degrees of freedom of rotation, two step motors and managed by a supervisory software to optimize the process.
