Abstract
The use of microalgae biomass as a dietary supplement in the human or animal diet has been extensively studied. One of the motivations for the research on the subject is the fact that it is an alternative and natural source, presenting, in most of the species studied, high content of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. This study presents a proposal of a dynamic mathematical model, based on the mass balance of the cell, aiming to quantify and manage the concentrations of biomass, lipids, proteins and carbohydrates obtained from the biomass of the microalgae Acutodesmus obliquus, cultivated in a laboratory scale using like autotrophic CHU medium. The nutritional value of the biomass can vary according to the cultivation conditions, thus, keeping the incidence of light and temperature constant, it was possible to obtain a set of differential equations representative of the flow rates in and out from cell, considering the same conditions for the medium intra and extracellular. The model was validated through experimental data. It presented satisfactory predictive performance and could be used as a management tool at the production of microalgae biomass with high nutritive value.
