Abstract
Plastic injected parts have become the most common material in industrial products, particularly in the automotive industry. The main challenges faced by the industry in the use of injection molding in terms of productivity are related to manufacturing and injection cycle time associated with the mold. Steel has traditionally been used to make molds. To overcome this problem, aluminum alloys can replace steel since they have a four times higher thermal conductivity. Injection mold development, on the other hand, is a complicated activity due to the large number of design requirements throughout the stages of planning, budgeting, design, manufacturing, assembly, and try-out. The requirement is the primary means of communication between customers, businesses, organizational teams, and suppliers. Within the product or service development cycle, requirements serve several purposes. Requirements management refers to the activity of managing requirements throughout the product development cycle. Change control, traceability, and quality management are all aspects of requirements management. Requirements elicitation, documentation, validation and verification, and change control are all part of the requirements management process. On the other hand, implementing a requirements management system is a complex activity because it involves multiple actors from various knowledge areas who participate at various points throughout the project. This paper presents a project requirements management model for injection mold development. This model is a segment of DEMALAP project, which is part of the Rota 2030 Program, to demonstrate the feasibility of using aluminum alloys as a base material for the manufacture of high-productivity injection molds in order to improve global competitiveness throughout the thermoplastic injected part's life cycle.
