Abstract
This work has the objective of performing an energy study on the main machining parameters found in turning ABNT 1045 steel. An energy analyzer capable of recording all the energy potentials present in the system was used. Besides, shear depth, feed rate, shear rate was initially defined so that the constant values of chip volume removed were satisfied. Feed rate is the parameter that most influenced the specific energy during turning, followed by the depth and cutting speed
