Abstract
In the assembly lines of industrial auto parts or automotive many products are processed on the same production line where flexibility and quality control between operations is mandatory requirement to guarantee productivity. And one of the most used tools for mapping of vulnerabilities that may impact on productivity is the FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis). This technique was developed in the aerospace and defense U.S. order to identify the failure events that can occur within a given system (e.g., an airplane) and effects which would result if the fault occurred. The FMEA is an analytical quality planning tool dedicated to the identification of the main modes of potential failure and its effects associated, this technique is used in the design stage of a system or product (DFMEA) as well as in the manufacturing process (PFMEA). The implementation of quality systems (such as ISO 9001, QS9000, TS 16949, etc.) requires the establishment of preventive procedures; therefore, the use of risk analysis methods such as FMEA is required. Its effective use can lead to numerous failures reductions such as internal defects (during processing or after processing), customer complaints, field failures, disability productivity, warranty claims. The successful implementation of an FMEA may increase the company's profitability and lead to greater customer satisfaction in products and services. However, despite being one of the suggested tools for obtaining quality certificates in practice it is traditionally inadequate and poorly explored regarding the design of all investments for the assembly line design for the maintenance of the same. This work aims to present, based on the literature, a theoretical study design of a diesel engine assembly line where potential models of faults and their effects by a PFMEA and methodology suggestion to prioritize investment needs will be delineated.
