Abstract
This work presents a study about the usage of two CNC machines on complex shapes micromilling, one micromilling CNC machine and other convencional-milling machine.Currently this process is consolidating as an excellent alternative process to achieve small corner regions, which has been done by electrical discharge machine. However specific equipments for micromilling are expensive, in order to minimize the cost, a spindle can be attached to the conventional CNC machine. This paper aim to realize an investigation of the performance of two CNC machines evaluating the form deviation and roughness. Has been used the steal AISI P20 witch Is vastly applied in mold and die manufacturing. The radios of the tools edge was measured by a confocal microscopic and has obtained the value of 3 µm, this value is relevant in the choice of the parameter feed per tool. The cut direction and the orientation was variated in this work. Ball end micromilling toll were used in the study, which were TiSiN coated and and hardened with two flutes. The results indicate that despite the application of a spindle may cause more form deviation and worst roughness it might be a good alternative searching for reduce costs.
