Abstract
In this work was studied the microstructural recovery of the nickel-based superalloy GTD-111, a material used in thermoelectric gas turbine blades, by rejuvenation treatment. Through the creep test it was possible to observe the level of damage caused by the 950 C temperature and 90 MPa tension for a period of 200 hours. In the nickel superalloy GTD-111 subjected to the creep test, it was possible to observe that γ’-precipitates increased in size and lost coherence with the γ-matrix, which negatively affects the properties of the material. The creep effect could be observed by comparing the initial and post-creep microstructures with the mean size results of γ' precipitates, their volumetric fraction by area and Vickers hardness. The recovery obtained by rejuvenation treatment, which is the combination of thermal cycles of γ’-dissolution and reprecipitation, proved to be efficient, since it reestablished the microstructure almost as the initial condition of the nickel-base superalloy GTD-111, which presents γ'-precipitates with cuboid morphology and coherent with the γ-matrix. The recovery of the material was also observed with the increase of the Vickers hardness after the thermal treatment of rejuvenation.
