Abstract
Plasma nitriding is the tools of high speed steel designed to increase wear resistance of the cutting edge and reduce the tendency of abrasive material to hold the tool. This paper tries to analyse the wear of high speed steel bits M2 under different parameters plasma nitriding and deposition of titanium nitride (TiN). The last holes through the first nitriding treatment takes 3 hours, the temperature in the range of 350 °C, 400 °C and 450 ° C. The holes nitrided at 400 ° C provides a process is subjected to a film deposition TiN. All experiments were tested by micro-hardness and made in the CNC machining centre in which the specimen was AISI 4340 an analysis of the performance between the various treatments that had come to the conclusion that the treatment in a resulting improved processing performance at 450 ° C the nitrided layer of the holes was nitrided, was by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and the profile of microhardness layer nitrided seen the drill was analysed was treated at 350 ° C, without, however, it was observed that the hardness value increases with the duration of treatment, and the comprising film deposition TiN little relevance in bit performance.
