Abstract
This article has as its main objective to present the project for a communication interface between a CNC machine with Arduino and a CLP by using the MODBUS TCP/IP communication protocol. A prototype for a PCI was developed, in which the Arduino was installed alongside a reverse voltage protection system and bornes for a quick jumpstart. By using an Arduino UNO, it was possible to receive signals from the doors, vises, and safety systems of the CNC machine, which, combined with the start signal collected from the CLP, allowed for the machine to start only when all required conditions are met. With the resources available from the CLP programming software TIA PORTAL version 13, it was possible to configure and establish the connection to the Arduino, allowing the signals to be read and sent. During the testing process, it was only able to send or read a single signal, not being able to interpret two instructions at a time, at the end, however, it was a good enough low-cost alternative that was able to meet the established criteria.
