ANALISE DO COEFICIENTE DE DESGASTE ABRASIVO DO AÇO INOXIDAVEL SAF 2507 APÓS TRATAMENTO DE NITRETAÇÃO POR PLASMA

Abstract
SAF 2507 duplex stainless steel samples were submitted to low-temperature plasma nitriding for 2, 4, and 8 hours at 350 °C using a gas mixture of 70% N2, 20% H2 and 10% Ar. Hardness measurements and microabrasive wear resistance (free rotating ball configuration) were performed. The results showed a growth of the treated layer with the treatment time, presenting phases of high hardness, which influences the abrasive wear coefficient. The increase in wear resistance with the increase of the nitriding time, is related to the increase of the nitrogen content retained inn the treated material that increases with time,and consequently increasimg the hardness of the nitrided layer.
