Abstract
The use of MQL lubrication has been used as a means of saving cutting fluids and also as a sustainable alternative for minimizing damage caused by improper disposal of oils used in machining. In this context, this work addresses the development and application of a low-cost MQL valve. Two strategies were used for machining: oil and mixing oil with graphite. To evaluate its performance, the valve used in milling the Ti-6Al-4V alloy due to the importance of this material in industrial, biomedical and aerospace applications, using an experimental design 23 with two central points. For the control of opening and closing the valve, the Arduino platform was used due to the ease of access, customization and application. After machining, the roughness Sv and Sp were measured in a white light interferometer. It was observed that the use of the strategy with addition of graphite provided lower values of roughness Sp and Sv.
