Abstract
Magnetic bearings are devices which provide support for any ferromagnetic body (rotor) using magnetic forces. There are several advantages on the use of these devices, being one the absence of contact between the rotor and the support. For that reason, the magnetic bearings require no lubrification. In addition, there is not friction on the surface of the device, making the maintenance costs be low. Furthermore, they can operate at high speeds, and have a controllable dynamic. Active magnetic bearings are characterized by being unstable, requiring a control system to ensure stability, i.e. to keep the rotor positioned at the center even in the presence of a disturbance. Thus, in order to solve the problem of stability, this paper proposes the dynamic analysis of an active magnetic bearing, for which was designed a control model. With that purpose, a simulation was performed, and a testing bench was built for the validation of the results.
