PROJECT OF INSTALLATION ABSORPTION REFRIGERATOR 5 TR FOR THE CLIMATE OF A BUILDING

Abstract

Thermal comfort is one of the ways by which humankind seeks to improve quality of life. Studies indicate that whether for residential thermal comfort or for thermal comfort of commercial and industrial buildings, climatization contributes to health and productivity, making sure, processes are properly performed in certain specific conditions. Therefore, thermal comfort is very important in society's daily life. However, the increase of refrigeration and air conditioning also causes a significant increase in electricity consumption. In that context, the absorption chillers have several features that make them a good alternative, the main one is the fact they do not use electric power but any thermal energy source available instead. The objective of this work is to design an air conditioning system for two rooms of the Center of Research and Development Self-Sustainable Energy (NPDEAS) at the Universidade Federal do Paraná, to describe the installation process, present a budget planning for the equipment and cost estimatation for the installation of system including the maintenance plan, operation and control - PMOC of this system. For the calculation of the heat load it was used Dr. Martinelli's parameterized system, where for the room 01 the heat load was 29.000 BTU and for the room 2, almost 7.000 BTU. We took into consideration parameters such as: insolation and windows, internal and external walls, floor, ceiling, number of people, etc. The Robur-W "LB" absorption chiller was chosen for this project. ROBUR-W-LB has a capacity of 60.000 BTU (5 TR), and operates on a water-ammonia gas absorption cycle that combines the heat recovery advantages of geothermal systems with the advantages of gas appliances. Robur-W “LB” is able to chill temperatures from -5°C to 60°C. For the installation it will be necessary to use 2 Fancolets of 32.000 and 12.000 BTU, a cold water reservoir of 1000 and 500 liters, a hot water reservoir of 1000 liters and 3 pumps. Thus, it can be concluded that using these data, it is possible to estimate the cost/benefit of installing a 5 TR absorption cooling system for the building.
