Abstract
It is becoming increasingly pressing, the need for assembly line supply networks to be more flexible, due to companies reducing their production costs, in order to become more productive. In this context, the Flexible Manufacturing Supply System (FMSS) has been adapted and simplified for application in production line supply processes, based on the generic concept called Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS). In this sense, this paper aims to propose a new approach to the production line supply system, which is more flexible and agile in assemblers that operate under CKD (Completely Knock-Down). Thus, this research is a case study based on a quantitative approach, and was developed in an automobile assembler, having as sample field twelve workstations. The model developed consists of the Sushi Box Crab - SBC supply system, which is composed of transport modules (sushi box cars) towed by a tugboat. These cars, when coupled to the support rack for assembling the truck cab, change the direction of operation. In order to validate the proposed implementation of the SBC system in the trim shop line (cabin assembly) of trucks, simulations and computer modeling were performed with the FlexSim software. Thus, it was possible to perform tests and analyses about the future scenario considering the new supply model developed. With the simulations, it was possible to size the movement resources needed to supply the assembly line, as well as to identify the intensity of the flows in the routes. The main results obtained indicate that the system applies to the production demands and shows to be a simple implementation process, which dispenses with the need for large investments.
