Abstract
To keep yourselves competitive in actual market is necessary that enterprises search ways of minimize uncertainties already inside their own businesses. A way of reduce uncertainties is related with the product development process (PDP). The traditional reference models used on PDP has been considered not very flexible and even rigid when applied on dynamic markets, like the actual, may affecting negatively the product’s launch. A counterpoint to these traditional models are the agile models, which work in short cycles, highlighting the Lean Startup approach. This approach is widely used in enterprises of software development, being reported positive results, like learning and client feedbacks acceleration, uncertainties reduction and products development focused on real value. However, the use of this approach in manufactured products development still is a problem, since despite being mentioned as a possibility, in practice it is not known how the Lean Startup approach can be applied and managed in these environments. Therefore, this article seeks to analyze the scientific production about the use of Lean Startup approach in manufactured product development process, delimiting the state of art and proposing new directions to expand the knowledge’s frontier. A systematic bibliographic review was carried out in four databases, without limit of period of publication. A total of 121 articles were collected, of which 16 were selected after the filtering process. Among these, only four articles discusses about the use of the practices of Lean Startup approach in the manufactured products development process. Was noted that the approach in question is not applied alone, but together with other practices and tools for development, and despite were reported benefits for PDP using practices of the Lean Startup approach, how to apply and manage this application are not topics discussed in bibliographic, as well as the main challenges of this application are not reported. Furthermore, an indication was obtained regarding the need to improve traditional development methodologies towards agile development. Also were proposed possible futures studies related to the theme of this article. Was concluded that there is a great potential in use the Lean Startup approach in context of manufactured products, however this still is an unexplored and recent field, being possible to indicate some difficulties that may limit its use in practice. Even more, the importance of the theme was realized and the different research possibilities on the subject were reported.
