Abstract
Abstract. The lack of an effective control of the diaper production process implies production lost, waste generation an environmental impact. Facing this challenge this paper proposes a novel approach to characterize the diaper converting machine as an intelligent resource within the context of Industry 4.0, using a new architecture. An intelligent control model is developed for decision-making the process, which will be automated and integrated with the production system, such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). This characteristic allows the control system to perform different activities in a collaboratively and precisely way to optimize the use of raw material reels. This paper proposes the development of converting machine system control using the Production Flow Schema (PFS) to describe conceptually model as an intelligent resource. It is used the Colour Petri Net tools (CPNTools) in order to simulate and validate the operation of the baby diaper converting machine. The simulation of the model allowed analyzing different control strategies and compare the actual control system with the proposed new architecture approach. The methodologies of this paper are exploratory and deductive with modeling validation. It is expected that after the implementation of the baby diaper converting machine as an intelligent resource, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvement, reduction on waste and environmental impact are achieved.
