Abstract
The Avila, Santos and Machado work presents a new approach to estimate a crack propagation under constant amplitude loading. The Fast Crack Bound (FCB) consists in establish an upper (UB) and lower bound (LB) for the crack size function that represents the behavior interval of a crack propagation. The original studies validate the results by comparing the UB and LB functions with the fourth order Runge Kutta Numerical Method. However, the Upper bound is based on "a*". That parameter had been established by mathematical inspection. This work presents a new approach to determinate the Upper bound, based on the Lower Bound second derivative. The new way to establish the UB avoid the mathematical inspection, and for two of the three examples results in a lower deviation that previously method.
