Analysis of the Feasibility of Solar Central Receiver Plants in Rio Grande do Norte

Abstract
Electric generation from renewable sources has grown in recent years and concentrated solar power plants are evolving technologically and expanding commercially. In this work, it will be analyzed concentrated solar power plants of the central receiver system for Rio Grande do Norte, due to the state having semi-arid climate and receiving normal direct radiation greater than 1,800 kWh/m²/year, good conditions for implantation of this solar power plant. Simulations will be done for plants with only thermal energy storage system, but with two cooling systems (dry and wet). The analysis will be based on the cost generated by the energy per kWh, called levelised cost of electricity, in relation to some technical parameters such as capacity factor of the plant, solar multiple, solar field and annual electric generation.
