Abstract
The correct characterization of different materials helps to improve the results obtained by physical and numerical modeling. This work has developed a numerical work based in experimental data to obtain spectral values of the index of refraction (n) and the extinction coefficient (k), of some typical glasses available in the Brazilian market. A FTIR Spectrometer was used in the experimental stage. The real and imaginary parts of the complex index of refraction, were evaluated using the Kramers-Krönig relations and the respective numerical integration. As results were obtained the spectral values of the optical constants that will be included in future work to determine the radiative behavior of thin-film coatings on glass substrates.
