Abstract
Computational Fluid Dynamics is used in this work to perform a numerical analysis of the performance of an isolated centrifugal impeller with backward curved blades. Numerical and experimental results are compared together for a large range of flow rate. Furthermore, simulations were performed in the permanent regime. Several analyses of the numerical results are presented and some comments are made on the validity of the application of CFD techniques is appropriate to obtain the aerodynamic behavior characteristics of this type of turbomachine.
