Abstract
Piezoelectric materials have been widely used as actuators for vibration control in the past decades. However, most authors consider only analog circuits connected to the terminals of the piezoelectric material while ignoring the use of digital components (such as micro controller, arduinos, etc). In this work, we explore the use of these digital devices associated with piezoelectric elements in order to reduce vibrations on a host structure. Piezoelectric circuits using digital devices require reduced number of electric components (compared to fully analog circuitry approaches), allow enhanced manipulation of piezoelectric voltage and current output and also paves the way to the development of smart systems with adaptive capabilities. Numerical simulations were carried out with the resistive-inductive (in series), SSDS, SSDI and Nonlinear Energy Sink (NES) circuits in order to compare the proposed approach with the standard analog circuits. The results show a good agreement proposed approaches comparing to their analog correspondent circuit. An experimental verification will be also presented in the final version of the manuscript.
