Abstract
When examining the Industry 4.0, where it is expected an autonomous and high level of interaction among machines, connecting Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) through the Internet of Things (IoT), the capacity to acquire and analyze the data (considered as “big data”) generated in this interaction is expected in order to improve all aspects of the production process. In this context, it is essential to comprehend the process of acquiring relevant data. The present paper proposes the modeling of a data acquisition system (DAQ) as a discrete event system, expressing all its pertinent characteristics. Thus, this paper introduces the use of a formal technique derived from Petri net (PN) called Production Flow Schema (PFS) as a procedure for the analysis and specification of the parts that comprise a data acquisition system.
