Abstract
. The present work presents burning behavior analyses of some fuel formulations for application in hybrid rocket engines. The burning of three formulations with gaseous oxygen was carried out in a combustion chamber containing a quartz window to allow filming of the regression rate of the fuel during the burning process. The fuel mixtures have formulations containing different fractions of paraffin, ethanol, aluminum micro-spheres, and carbon black. The filming of the three samples was investigated in the software "Image J", enabling to assess the frames of the film on the same scale, in other words, measure the regression rate. The best burning behavior was the sample containing paraffin, ethanol, and aluminum, the result of this sample was compared with other papers presented in the literature, suggesting a great potential of application and should be examined in more depth in future works. This study contributes to the evaluation of formulations containing paraffin, ethanol, and additives.
